A Special Engagement
May 13, 2010
This shoot is special because it is my own son and his fiance. We had great fun over at a local location: the village of Savage, MD, including Carroll Baldwin Hall, the Savage Green, Savage Mill and Bollman Bridge. It is one of my favorite places to shoot. Here are few that I liked without too much fiddling:
What I learned from this shoot:
What I learned from this shoot:
- Cloudy days are awesome! We shot these starting at about 5:30 pm on an overcast day. The sun could be seen as a bright spot in the sky, but it was perfectly diffused and we could shoot anywhere without worrying about shadows. I was able to shoot at 200 ISO and still have my shutter speed wherever I wanted it.
- I do like the Canon f/2.8 24-70 zoom lens that I rented for this shoot. I think it might be the one to set my sights on because it has enough of a wide angle, but the 70 mm is a nice focal length for portraits. I'm going to rent an 85 mm prime just to be sure, but today, between the rental lens and my 70-200, I felt like my camera was an extension of my body. I could get exactly the images I was imagining. I really felt a sense of flow during this shoot. I made 575 images and so far still have 192 that I really like.
